How much time do I need to experience Norway?

Norway is not a big country, but it is a long country. With preferably somewhere between 7 and 10 days it can definitely be done properly. The Bubbly Tourist itinerary starts you in the amazing capital city of Oslo, takes you through stunning Fjord country with jaw-dropping mountain and fjord views and hikes, and ends in the charming coastal town of Ålesund. Given this timeframe and with a stretch, we could get you further north to Trondheim or perhaps all the way up to the Arctic Circle, but that would truly be aggressive travel and resultantly would have diminishing returns. Our itinerary is a combination of trains, ferries and automobiles and allows you to fully immerse yourself into the majestic fjordic lands of the ancient vikings and norsemen and truly see "the land of a thousand waterfalls".

Bubbly Tips on Norway Travel

Oslo, Norway; Bubbly Tourist perfect 7 - 10 day itinerary of Norway
Be careful of using the unregulated taxis in Norway

Norway Bubbly Tip 1: Prepare for the Weather

It rains a lot in Norway so bring proper rain clothes including coats, shoes/ boots and umbrellas. And bring layers because you'll need to be able to layer up or strip down depending on the hour of the day. Don't feel like packing everything? Well there's plenty of fashionable stores throughout the country that set the standard with cool and stylish rain gear.

Norway Bubbly Tip 2: Cashless Purchases

The official currency of Norway is the Norwegian Krone (NOK). It is not part of the European Union (EU) and therefore does not use the Euro. However, that doesn't mean you have to change your currency to NOK because literally everywhere uses credit and debit cards. Bubbly Tourist recommends you use cards with no foreign transaction fees.

Norway Bubbly Tip 3: Norway is Expensive

The cost of living is higher than that of the US, but the standard of living is higher in Norway than that of the US. Be prepared to spend more than you might be used to for travel in Norway. Especially dinner. The silver lining for dinner expenses, at least from an American's perspective, is that tipping is appreciated, but not generally expected.

Norway Bubbly Tip 4: Taxis are Unregulated and very Expensive

Don't plan on using a Taxi for travel. That includes Uber. The industry is unregulated therefore it will be far more expensive than you're expecting and there are also unscrupulous drivers who will take advantage of you. If you have to use a taxi, negotiate the price ahead of the ride.
